Are you ready to get your Valentine’s Day craft on? I sure hope so, because today I’ve teamed up with 13 other bloggers to bring you some beautiful, budget-friendly Valentine’s Day crafts that are perfect for decorating your home! Each blogger was given a budget of no more than $10 and challenged to create a Valentine’s Day craft using items from the dollar store or dollar section of their local stores.
I think you’re really going to love my Valentine’s Day sign, because not only was it only $5, but it really only takes about 5 minutes to make! It’s so quick and easy that you could literally make it during a commercial break of your favorite TV show. So if you’ve been looking for a quick way to add some Valentine’s Day decor to your home, look no further!
Check out my DIY Valentine’s Day sign, and then visit the other bloggers to see what they’ve come up with. I promise you won’t be disappointed! And if you have your own budget Valentine’s Day craft that’s $10 or less, feel free to link it up at the bottom of the post! And stay tuned, because I’ll soon be posting the Valentine’s Day version of my interchangeable wreath, as well as a few other Valentine’s Day goodies that you don’t want to miss out on!
Materials Needed to Create DIY Valentine’s Day Sign
- Frame (Make sure the frame is big enough to fit your letters. Mine is 8×10.)
- Wooden “XO” letters
- Valentine’s Day scrapbook paper
- Paint
- Foam brush
- Scissors
- Glue gun/glue
I got my frame and wooden letters from the Dollar Store. The paint ($1) and paper ($0.80) were from the craft store, which actually makes this craft slightly less than $5!
Steps to Create DIY Valentine’s Day Sign
1. Paint your wooden letters with the paint you selected.
2. While the letters are drying, take the glass and backing out of your frame. (Store the glass in a safe place. We won’t be putting it back in the frame.) Use the insert to measure and cut your scrapbook paper down to the same size.
(Pro tip: Since your frame is going to be sitting horizontally, don’t cut your paper out vertically if it has a noticeable pattern like I did. I ended up taping the paper back together and recutting it so the little hearts were facing up and down, not sideways. Luckily it’s not noticeable in the end!)
3. Put the scrapbook paper into your frame. (Lol see the little line where I taped the paper? This is one of those face-palm crafting moments!)
4. Glue your letters onto the scrapbook paper. (Thank goodness the little line isn’t noticeable with the letters covering it, right?)
Ta-da! Wasn’t that one of the easiest crafts you’ve ever made? It seriously only take 5 minutes, and the result is a beautiful Valentine’s Day decoration that you can use year after year!
Doesn’t it add the perfect touch to your Valentine’s Day decor? If you really want to go crazy, you could even add some glitter to the letters for some extra pizzazz!

Love the sign! You have an awesome dollar store. My store doesn’t have wooden letters, but it could be made with cardboard too.
